Nearby Cockington Country Park boasts a 1000 year old church, manor house with arts
and crafts including glass blowing, traditional pub and old village, all in beautiful
gardens. The newly refurbished Torre Abbey is a few minutes’ walk. Regular boat trips
offer excursions to Brixham or historic Dartmouth and up the river to ‘Bohemian’ Totnes,
Devon’s 'funky' town with its soulful atmosphere, laid-back lifestyle and charming,
Elizabethan architecture.
Just off the coast road from Torquay to Shaldon is Maidencombe, a beautiful little cove
and home of the Thatched Tavern. Shaldon, with its pristine village & Teignmouth with
pleasant beach and old pubs.
Unspoilt Sidmouth on the Jurassic coast is a classic regency resort and not far from
Torquay and Exeter. Other places to explore: Dartmouth, Salcombe and Blackpool
Sands. On Dartmoor: Widecombe on the Moor, Ashburton, Tavistock and
Princetown. |

Torquay's waterfront and marina is the focus of life in the town, which is graced by the palm-lined promenade and seafront gardens. The harbour has many pavement cafés. There is an abundance of restaurants catering for every taste, including a Michelin Star restaurant.
The location of The Daylesford makes town, coast and countryside equally accessible.
A car is not a necessity as the town is within walking distance. Key routes are easily accessible from the Daylesford. We will be delighted to offer full advice to guests as to where to visit.
